Penny Gkritzapi is a theatre practitioner from Athens, Greece.
Following a few years in acting and drama teaching there, she came to London to train as a theatre director and got her MA in Theatre Directing (University of East London). She has been part of the Blue Sky Actors for the past five years (19 productions). Since 2016 she has been directing plays with Polymorph Theatre and is also an associate artist of Face Front Theatre.
Directing credits include: Bang Bang You’re Dead (assistant director at Trianon Theatre, Nafplio 2008), If I’m late, go to sleep (Simeio Theatre, Athens 2010), W.A.N.T. [Women Are Not Toys] (Stratford Circus Theatre, London 2014), Abberline’s Artefact (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016), 10 Rillington Place (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017) , Dulce et Decorum Est: The Unknown Soldiers (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018), Votes For Women (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019), Chemistry (Hastings Fringe 2021), Milkteeth (Mountview Catalyst Festival), Chemistry (Watford Fringe 2021), Before An Inspector Calls (Chiswick Playhouse 2021).
She is a SDUK member and also a member of the Director’s group at Director’s Cut Theatre .
