Director SupportWe all need somebody to lean on…

Sometimes, even Directors need direction…

Sometimes, in our (directing) lives…

Everything about a production passes through the director’s hands eventually. It’s a massive responsibility, having to keep everything on track, organising and leading rehearsals, supervising props and set and costumes, casting, script editing, lighting plots, soundscapes…

Sometimes it can be a bit too much. That’s where we come in.

Assistant Director…

There comes a point where you just need a second pair of hands. It’s not that there is anything in particular that you can’t do, it’s that there’s just too much of it at any given time. That’s when you need an assistant. We can find that person for you, someone with experience of directing who can take over some of the main directing tasks when there aren’t enough hours in the day for you to do everything.

Rehearsing and blocking with supporting cast, while you work with the principals. Creating the lighting plot or the soundscape. Sorting out the projections. You tell them what you need, and they do it.

Book an Assistant Director with Polymorph, and let us take some of the strain.

Production Manager…

When you want to concentrate on the “directing” part of directing, it might make sense to appoint a Production Manager to handle all that other “stuff” that gets in the way. Scheduling of rehearsals and meetings, liaising with venues and other departments, supervising set design and costuming, handling correspondence, invoicing and contracts.

In short, the thousand and one things that don’t involve actually directing! We can find the perfect person to handle all of that for you, and they’ll keep records and provide summary information when you need it. Talk to Polymorph about a Production Manager and get back to doing what you do best.

Mental Health…

Directing comes with a lot of stress, and we know what that feels like. We can’t provide medical advice, but we can provide someone who understands the pressures that being a director brings, and we can offer practical help in the way of a person with whom you can discuss your situation, and techniques and strategies that will make your life easier.

A one-to-one session with one of our partners might be just the thing you need to help make it all seem a bit less impossible.

We can give you some structural support by providing planning input and support when things get overheated. Advice on dealing with actors you’re finding it difficult to connect with, relaxation techniques and exercises for you and the cast. Strategies that you can employ to de-stress the situation. Book a 1-1 Mental Health Check with Polymorph and take some of the pressure off.
